Compass Intervention Center utilizes an evidenced-based treatment approach for children that have experienced various types of trauma. All therapists are trained to offer TF-CBT services. TF-CBT is a treatment-specific intervention utilized with patients that have experienced significant abuse, neglect, loss, and exposure to violence. Effects of trauma can impact a child’s ability to effectively heal creating a profound, long-term impact on the child. Trauma Group provides a safe environment for patients to process the cognitions, emotions, and loss that trauma causes. This type of therapy offered at Compass Intervention Center takes a comprehensive approach to identifying the triggering events associated with a traumatic event(s) experienced by some children and teaches them the skills to cope in a manner that is not disruptive to their lives or those that come into contact with them on a daily basis. TF-CBT is usually completed in 12-18 sessions. TF-CBT involves individual therapy with the patient as well as family/caregiver input in family therapy sessions in a supportive environment.
